Salman Khan, CEO

Salman Khan is the Founder and Managing Principal of Stabilis Capital Management.  Mr. Khan founded Stabilis is 2010 after spending 12 years at Goldman Sachs and 6 years at Silver Point.  At Goldman, Mr. Khan was the Group Head and ran the Latin American loan acquisition business from 1997-2001.  He also built and ran the US Small and Middle Market Loan Acquisition business which he later ported to Silver Point in 2004.  At Silver Point, Mr. Khan created and ran a $600 million discretionary portfolio focused on Middle Market Loan Acquisition for 6 years.  In 2010, Mr. Khan established Stabilis and has continued the loan acquisition strategy and built a bridge lending strategy as a complementary business.  Mr. Khan has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. 

Greg Vilkin, CFO

Mr. Vilkin is the CFO  and CCO of Stabilis and has been at the firm for over 6 years.  Mr. Vilkin is a CPA licensed in New York State with over 20 years of professional experience in the financial services. Prior to joining Stabilis, Mr. Vilkin worked in Alternative Investments group of Credit Suisse AG, where he was responsible for oversight and administration of private equity investment funds with over $4 billion in assets under management. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Mr. Vilkin spent 7 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP with the Audit and Transaction Services Groups.  Mr. Vilkin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Long Island University with a B.A. in Accounting, and attended St. Petersburg State University in Russia with a major in chemical geology.

Dale Cooney, COO

Mr. Cooney is the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Underwriting & Asset Management. Prior to joining Stabilis, Mr. Cooney spent 6 years at Fortress Investment Group, and 10 years at Silver Point Capital LP.  He has held senior positions at Goldman Sachs, and other financial services firms over his 30+ year career in underwriting, managing and resolving real estate financing transactions.  Mr. Cooney graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Accountancy.

Juan Robayo, Managing Director

Juan Robayo joined Stabilis in February 2014 and is the Co-Head of Sourcing. Mr. Robayo has over 22 years of experience in the financial services sector. Prior to joining the Stabilis team, Mr. Robayo was Director in the Fixed Income Group at Barclays/Lehman for 7 years. While at Lehman Mr. Robayo acquired and managed distressed NPL portfolios in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.  Prior to joining Lehman, Mr. Robayo worked with Salman at Goldman Sachs in the Latin American distressed loan acquisition business and at Silver Point Capital in the US middle market loan acquisition business.  Mr. Robayo has a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Columbia University.

Scott Esterbrook, General Counsel

Mr. Esterbrook is the General Counsel for Stabilis.  In that role, Mr. Esterbrook oversees all legal matters for Stabilis and assists on all operational and compliance matters. Mr. Esterbrook has been practicing law for over twenty years focusing on the financial services sector, focusing on private investment funds, disputes and efforts to identify, protect and enforce rights, remedies and claims with a particular emphasis on transactional matters for distressed debt situations. He graduated magna cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law where he served as executive editor of the Temple Law Review.

Brad Lyons, Co-Head of Originations

Mr. Lyons is Co-Head of Sourcing at Stabilis.  Mr. Lyons has significant experience in the real estate structured finance space and has been active with value-add and development projects across all sectors nationwide.  Mr. Lyons' principal experience included investing on behalf of Capital Trust (now Blackstone Mortgage Trust) and New York Life Investment Management.  He holds a BA in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University and an MS in Real Estate Finance from NYU.
